Assault on the Heart God Sect

Chapter 921,419 words12 min read

“This plan is viable.” After hearing Su Hanxing’s proposal, Chi Qiu pondered for a moment before nodding. Then, as if remembering something crucial, she quickly added:

“Do not expose your identity.”

Chi Qiu’s unspoken words were a clear instruction: Su Hanxing should avoid using any divine abilities or techniques that might easily reveal his true identity, thereby preventing the Heart God Sect cultivators from recognizing him.

“Rest assured, I have many tricks up my sleeve; those from the Heart God Sect won’t discover anything,” Su Hanxing said with a confident smile, nodding in agreement.

“That’s good then.” Chi Qiu nodded gently.

Su Hanxing turned, his right hand shooting out to grasp a long battle-axe in an instant. He raised the weapon, muttering incantations under his breath, and in that moment, a profoundly robust true qi surged, drawing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to converge upon the battle-axe.

The battle-axe, originally a dull bluish-black, gradually transformed into a riot of colors under the infusion of true qi and spiritual energy. It appeared as if forged from iridescent glazed glass, utterly wondrous and divine.

Chi Qiu stood to the side, observing Su Hanxing’s actions with keen interest. This particular move was one he had never used before, sparking her profound curiosity.

After several breaths, the energy accumulated on the battle-axe finally reached its peak. Su Hanxing’s body tensed; he slowly leaned back, his right arm pulled back, his waist and arm taut as a bowstring, then unleashed a powerful throw!

Whoosh—

The colossal, multicolored battle-axe sliced through the sky, leaving a long rainbow in its wake, its momentum utterly astonishing.

“Little Chi, prepare yourself,” Su Hanxing said, turning to Chi Qiu after releasing the battle-axe.

Chi Qiu nodded. With a flick of her hand, a war spear instantly appeared in her grasp. This war spear had been seized by Chi Qiu within the Yinglong Tomb. Its decent quality and suitability to her preferences led her to keep it, rather than selling it to Qibao Hall.

“Who dares to attack my Heart God Sect?” From within the cave dwelling, an aged roar of fury erupted. This roar quickly transformed into a tangible shockwave, aiming to block the battle-axe Su Hanxing had thrown.

“A God Concealing stage cultivator, yet they foolishly believe a mere shout can block my technique. What a pipe dream,” Su Hanxing scoffed upon witnessing the scene.

Just as Su Hanxing predicted, the multicolored battle-axe effortlessly pierced through the soundwave. Its momentum unchecked, it then slammed directly into one of the cave dwellings.

Boom—

Amidst the thunderous crash, the outer wall of the black cave dwelling was struck, a massive hole torn open by the battle-axe. Inside, cultivators could faintly be seen meditating.

“This cave dwelling is quite sturdy; I thought I could collapse one entirely.” Given the long-standing animosity between the Heart God Sect and the Tianyan Sect, Su Hanxing naturally felt no compunction about damaging their dwellings.

“How dare you, you impudent wretch!”

Seeing their own cave dwellings damaged, the remaining cultivators and disciples of the Heart God Sect could no longer remain still. They roared in unison, then transformed into streaks of black, rushing towards Chi Qiu and Su Hanxing.

“Have you seen that old man?” Chi Qiu’s eyesight was not as keen as Su Hanxing’s. Holding her war spear, she casually tapped it a few times, asking with composure.

“I haven’t.” Su Hanxing shook his head.

“Then let’s linger a bit longer and force him to show himself.” Chi Qiu’s gaze was sharp and cold.

“The Heart God Sect’s techniques primarily cultivate the soul; be extremely wary of their soul-attacking arts,” Su Hanxing cautioned. As a long-standing adversary of his sect, he naturally understood their methods well.

“I have the Dragon Orb, which activates lightning to protect my soul; there’s no need to worry.” Though Chi Qiu said this, she still secretly channeled a portion of her true qi to shield her soul.

Su Hanxing said no more after hearing her words. With a casual grab, a longsword appeared in his hand. He then brandished the sword, unleashing several streaks of sword qi that flew directly towards the dozens of charging Heart God Sect disciples.

Seeing Su Hanxing initiate his attack, Chi Qiu was not to be outdone. She immediately channeled her true qi, conjuring specks of flying snow with her thrusts.

Before they even engaged in close combat, a wave of soul fluctuation swiftly assailed them. Chi Qiu, having never experienced such an attack, froze for a moment before quickly regaining her senses.

This Heart God Sect’s soul-bewildering art is nothing special; it can’t even shake me in the slightest. Chi Qiu smiled faintly, then spoke loudly, her normally clear voice altered by true qi to become rough and powerful, imbued with considerable presence.

“Who are you? How dare you cause trouble here?” The young cultivator leading them, clad in black robes and wielding a wooden sword, pointed its tip directly at Chi Qiu and Su Hanxing, asking in an unfriendly tone.

Chi Qiu was just about to consider whether to respond, but then she saw Su Hanxing let out a cold snort, advancing with his longsword, ready to engage in close combat.

Naturally, Chi Qiu would not stand by and watch Su Hanxing become encircled by the Heart God Sect disciples. Gripping her war spear, she channeled true qi into her feet, and with a single step, she caught up to Su Hanxing.

The two sides engaged in close combat. Su Hanxing, wielding his longsword, executed countless sword blossoms, keeping several Heart God Sect disciples around him from daring to approach.

Not far from him, Chi Qiu wielded her war spear. The black war spear moved like a venomous snake striking, each move ruthless, pressing relentlessly, forcing several Heart God Sect disciples into continuous retreat.

“Steward, quickly save us!”

The Heart God Sect cultivators secretly grumbled in despair. The two black-robed ‘monsters’ before them seemed to possess some treasure protecting their souls, completely unafraid of their sect’s soul-attacking arts. Their inability to attack the soul directly rendered a large portion of their combat techniques useless, making them naturally no match for Chi Qiu and Su Hanxing.

“Do not panic, this old man has arrived!”

The powerful, aged roar echoed once more. An old man emerged from the cave dwelling, breaking through its barriers. He took a few aerial steps, and by unleashing bursts of true qi, he reached the battlefield where Chi Qiu, Su Hanxing, and the Heart God Sect disciples were clashing in mere strides.

The old man’s face was gloomy and unpleasant to behold. His hair and beard were white, his eyes narrow and long, and his brows sharp as swords. He wore a black robe and plain black cloth shoes, presenting a rather simple appearance.

The old man’s appearance caused Chi Qiu’s heart to subtly falter. Not for any other reason, but because this old man’s appearance was identical to that of the Heart God Sect Elder whom Chai Niang had asked Chi Qiu and Su Hanxing to find.

Chi Qiu and Su Hanxing exchanged an unspoken glance, a knowing smile playing on both their lips. They had now confirmed the location of this Heart God Sect elder. As for his strength, though they hadn’t tested it, they had already made a rough estimate.

Firstly, he was referred to by the Heart God Sect disciples as a ‘Steward’ rather than an ‘Elder’. This proved that his strength had certainly not reached the Dharma Manifestation Realm.

Furthermore, the Heart God Sect disciples, unable to contend with Chi Qiu and Su Hanxing, had called him to intervene. This indicated that his strength was definitely superior to theirs.

He must be an extremely powerful existence within the God Concealing stage…

Chi Qiu narrowed her eyes, a slight wariness stirring in her heart.

To conceal their identities, both Chi Qiu and Su Hanxing had sealed many of their magical treasures and divine abilities, rendering them unusable. This old man, however, had likely spent an unknown amount of time in the God Concealing stage and undoubtedly possessed numerous techniques. Considering this, the situation seemed somewhat tricky.

Before Chi Qiu could ponder further, Steward Song rushed before her. He extended his large hand, aiming to tear off Chi Qiu’s black robe.

“Let this old man see what kind of rat you truly are!”
