In just a few minutes, they had pulled Long Ling on the sled and happily rushed out of the manor, and the entire Ilidari Manor was about to become a small black dot, left behind by them.
The surroundings were a vast expanse of white, and the sled was flying across the wilderness.
Cool little snowflakes splashed up in a long string behind the sled, and countless plum blossom footprints were left in the snow.
Occasionally, a broken dry branch made a cracking sound, and the sled made only a slight shaking sound.
As the sled dogs pulled her through the leaning branches, icy snow, blown by the distant cold wind, fell and hit Long Ling’s head, then slid down her neck, causing a cold sensation.
This snow, after hitting her, couldn’t let Violet off either!
She turned her head and saw that Violet was wearing a wide-brimmed black felt hat and hadn’t been hit by frost or snow at all. She was riding on the horse, and looked noble and elegant from any angle.
Violet noticed Long Ling’s gaze on her and raised her chin slightly: “Why are you looking at me?”
Long Ling snorted, turned her head back, and regretted not putting on a winter hat when she rushed out. Now she could only bury her head in her scarf.
It was very cool, but also very cold. By the time Long Ling arrived at her destination on the sled, her hands, tucked in her sleeves, were already freezing.
Violet took off her gloves and cupped Long Ling’s rosy cheeks: “Let me warm you up.”
The cold fingertips touched her, and Long Ling’s body couldn’t help but tremble.
Violet’s body temperature was always lower than hers. Long Ling didn’t expect that Violet, even with gloves on, was colder than her hands.
She was silent for two seconds, warmed Violet’s hands, and then pulled them away from her face: “You’re colder than me.”
Violet put her hand on Long Ling’s wrist and said softly, “Yes, it’s too cold today.”
Long Ling turned her head and glanced around.
Nearby was a turquoise lake that had long been frozen solid, and in the distance, on the snow-capped mountains, there were some dry branches. Maybe they could make a fire to keep warm.
She and Violet had been to this place before.
The last time she came, she had borrowed a gill net from Violet and caught a lot of salmon.
She even used the salmon she caught to participate in the salmon feast competition at that time.
Long Ling said to Violet, “Then wait for me here for a while. I’ll go collect some firewood.”
Violet grabbed her wrist and didn’t let her go: “There’s a small wooden house in the nearby mountains. Firewood has already been prepared there.”
A hint of doubt appeared in Long Ling’s eyes: “A wooden house?”
Violet led her forward: “Didn’t you like living in the elven territory before? We have forests here too. I arranged for people to build a small wooden house in the forest. You can go stay there for a few days.”
Long Ling supported her forehead. Why was Violet building houses everywhere now?
She followed Violet to the small wooden house and saw the neatly stacked wood outside the door. This wood had all been chopped.
It was much smaller than her treehouse in the elven territory and was a bit like a hunter’s cabin, but it was still quite attractive. It had a small bed, a table, and a stove. It would be nice to rest here occasionally.
She opened the wooden house, walked in, and took some firewood, putting it in the stove inside.
Violet lit the firewood with magic. The fire rose, and it immediately became warm.
Long Ling had a lot of fallen snow on her hair along the way, and her hair was frozen like icicles. After being warmed by the fire, her long hair fell over her shoulders, becoming wet, and her eyelashes were also dampened.
She only brought a scarf and couldn’t dry her hair, so she could only warm it for a while longer.
Violet’s slender fingers suddenly passed through her hair, using magic to dry her hair.
Long Ling was stunned for a moment: “I can do it myself.”
Violet said softly, “I said I would take care of you in the future.”
A soft light flickered in Long Ling’s eyes, and she hummed softly, putting her hands on the stove to warm them.
Violet’s red lips curved slightly: “Do you want to rest here for a while, or go ice skating or hunting with me, or ice fishing?”
Long Ling thought about the last time she went hunting with Violet.
Her marksmanship was poor, and she only shot a few wild ducks.
That was in the spring when wild ducks were abundant, and it would probably be difficult to hunt wild ducks again this season.
Ice fishing was too cold, and they couldn’t move the stove to the ice.
Long Ling couldn’t help but ask, “Are we ice skating on the lake from just now?”
Violet nodded slightly.
Long Ling hesitated: “But I’ve never ice skated before.”
Violet said softly: “You can learn it quickly. I had people bring ice skates.”
Long Ling agreed: “Then let’s go ice skating.”
Long Ling felt much warmer. After resting and adjusting for a while, Violet brought the ice skates, and the two went to the frozen lake together.
The lake was frozen with thick ice, about several feet deep.
The temperature on the Odd Continent dropped much faster than on the Livor Continent.
The lake in front of them had already started to freeze a month ago.
The ice was very slippery, and Long Ling was wearing ice skates, so Violet had to support her.
In fact, it didn’t matter if a dragon fell. Even if she fell on the ice, she wouldn’t feel any pain, but Violet would steadily support her.
Violet was very patient, constantly encouraging her: “Keep your knees slightly bent, let your arms hang naturally, don’t be afraid.”
It took a long time to maintain her balance and stand at first, but after she slowly got used to it, she could try gliding on the ice.
Compared to the last time when Long Ling was not very focused on practicing her marksmanship while hunting, Violet found that Long Ling was quite interested in ice skating.
She persevered for a long time, without complaining of being tired or wanting to stop.
The little strawberry dragon seemed to prefer activities related to sports.
No wonder the muscle lines on her body had always remained perfect.
Violet was already very skilled at ice skating. She slowly glided on the ice with Long Ling, watching Long Ling, who looked like a little chick, gradually become confident from being apprehensive, and her eyes became sparkling.
Violet gradually let go of her hand, letting Long Ling skate around her.
She was always mindful, and no matter which direction the little dragon fell, she could steadily catch Long Ling.
However, Long Ling was very talented in sports.
After mastering side-sliding, she skated faster and faster, like a nimble swift, and Violet didn’t have to worry about her at all.
The two played on the ice for a long time, and Long Ling hadn’t been so happy in a long time.
When playing beach volleyball with Annie, she would take care of Annie’s feelings, being a reliable partner.
But in front of Violet, she could completely relax.
They played until dusk, and Long Ling was a little hungry.
She turned her head and saw that the sled dogs were also exhausted, so she took out the prepared dog food and fed the sled dogs some food.
Violet saw that Long Ling was a little tired from hugging the dog and asked her to go to the cabin to rest first.
She took the hunting rifle and hunted a few snow rabbits.
“I’ll make you something to eat, and we’ll go back after we eat.”
Long Ling couldn’t believe that Violet would say this!
Violet was going to cook for her herself?!
Long Ling watched Violet carry the processed rabbit, put it on a wooden cutting board, and pick up a knife to chop the meat.
With one chop, several pieces of rabbit meat flew out.
Seeing the rabbit she was about to get flying away, Long Ling quickly stopped Violet: “Okay, I’ll do it.”
Violet didn’t let her touch the knife: “Just rest there.”
Long Ling was afraid that after Violet finished chopping the meat, they wouldn’t even be able to eat a clean piece of rabbit meat.
She immediately said, “Everyone is good at different things, and I’m very skilled. I’ll do it. We can just have some simple fried rabbit meat, it’ll be ready soon.”
Long Ling gestured to the rabbit meat pieces that had fallen on the ground: “And if you keep chopping, there won’t be many pieces of rabbit meat left.”
Violet had no choice but to hand over the knife to Long Ling.
Long Ling looked around the cabin’s cupboard and found that all kinds of seasonings were placed inside. Violet must have arranged for someone to put some supplies here in the morning.
She placed a frying pan on the stove, cut two pieces of butter and put them on it.
The butter quickly melted in the pan, splattering small bubbles.
She then added some chili peppers and scallions, and skillfully cut the rabbit into simple, easy-to-cook pieces.
As soon as they were placed in the pan, they sizzled and fried to a golden brown color.
Violet watched Long Ling busy from the side, then turned to get a water jug, went out to fetch some spring water from the mountain, and boiled some hot tea, waiting for it to cool before giving it to Long Ling.
In the evening, the sky was getting dark, and it began to snow again.
Wisps of smoke rose from Long Ling and Violet’s small wooden house.
Long Ling and Violet ate the fragrant fried rabbit meat and drank the hot tea that Violet had personally brewed.
With one sip, there was even a sweet aftertaste.
Violet had been so good to her these days that she needed to put the proposal on the agenda soon.
