Unspoken Understanding

Chapter 94966 words9 min read

“Yes, okay.” After The Woman left cautiously, Mu Yaochen’s hand remained on Luo Yao’s head.

Although it was somewhat uncomfortable, Luo Yao did not resist at all at that moment.

Despite their heights not being vastly different, Mu Yaochen insisted on a ‘head pat,’ and Luo Yao could do nothing about it.

Truthfully, head pats come in two varieties.

For some, they are a form of absolute control. For others, they backfire, leading to a different kind of ‘control.’

Luo Yao fell into the second category.

Oh well, let her do as she pleases.

Right now, I can’t resist anyway.

“Luckily, I brought a few extra dust masks,” The Woman said, entering the room with a slightly dazed expression, heading towards the temporary rest area.

“Boss, what’s going on?” A few workers inside the door curiously glanced at the security guard, Mu Yaochen, and Luo Yao. In their eyes, Luo Yao and Mu Yaochen were merely a good-looking woman and a handsome man.

“They are our bosses……..” The Woman looked at the gathered ‘sisters,’ feeling a bit flustered. Mu Yaochen’s arrival was too sudden, and she had no preparation.

However, she was also relieved that the boy probably had a special relationship with Ms. Mu, and she hoped her previous treatment of him wasn’t too rough.

Facing the workers, who seemed eager for gossip, The Woman felt a bit helpless. After all, some of them might not know who Mu Yaochen was.

After a brief explanation and arrangement, the workers’ faces turned serious, losing their previous playful expressions.

The Woman nodded and walked alone towards the rest area.

Just in case, she did bring a few new, unopened dust masks. Her husband had even scolded her for wasting money on useless things. Little did she know, these items would one day be useful.

She grabbed two dust masks and hurried back to the store’s entrance.

By then, Mu Yaochen had removed her hand from Luo Yao’s head. Mu Yaochen was happy because Luo Yao hadn’t resisted when she patted his head; instead, he let her do it.

Did this mean Luo Yao was gradually forgiving her?

Perhaps Mu Yaochen had forgotten what Luo Yao was like before. Now, she was determined to mold him into her ideal shape.

As time passes, people forget their original selves.

Even Mu Yaochen had forgotten her initial reason for buying Luo Yao. Although that reason was made up and sounded ridiculous, perhaps Mu Yaochen never intended to make money off Luo Yao from the start. It was just an excuse to justify buying him. Of course, Mu Yaochen knew this, but she refused to admit it.

Some people drift further and further from their ideals, becoming the very thing they despise.

Everyone makes mistakes.

“Um, Ms. Mu, these are new, unopened dust masks.” The Woman handed two boxes of masks to Mu Yaochen.

Mu Yaochen slightly furrowed her brow. Usually, Frost would handle such tasks, like inspecting items before handing them to her. But now, Frost wasn’t by her side.

Mu Yaochen needed to adapt to life without Frost. She suspected Frost and Luo Yao had crossed boundaries, and because of that, she wanted to keep Luo Yao and Frost apart.

In truth, Mu Yaochen wanted to hide Luo Yao away, making the world forget his existence, keeping him solely for herself forever.

Yet, she lacked the courage to take that step.

Mu Yaochen inspected the masks, ensuring they were indeed new and unopened. She didn’t mind using them herself, but she couldn’t accept Luo Yao using anything that another woman had touched. This was one thing Mu Yaochen couldn’t tolerate.

After carefully checking, Mu Yaochen confidently handed the masks to Luo Yao.

Luo Yao took the masks without question and put them on. He thought he wasn’t that fussy yet, and entering without a mask wouldn’t be a big deal. But Mu Yaochen would never agree to that.

After putting on the masks, The Woman carefully led them into the store.

There were many polite greetings and welcoming rituals along the way, though not entirely necessary. Given Mu Yaochen’s status, these formalities were expected.

“If there’s nothing else, you can get back to work.” Mu Yaochen watched the workers bowing to her and felt that The Woman, though robust and a bit clumsy, was quite thoughtful.

Mu Yaochen waved her hand, indicating for the workers to relax.

“Um…..”

“Just let them do their jobs.” Mu Yaochen glanced at The Woman from a distance, her voice cold.

Mu Yaochen’s expression returned to its usual icy demeanor.

Looking at the roughly sixty or seventy square meter store, Mu Yaochen doubted whether such a large space could accommodate a single milk tea shop. At most, only two or three sets of tables and chairs could fit, leaving no room for the kitchen or counter.

However, contrary to Mu Yaochen’s concerns, Luo Yao seemed satisfied. Sixty square meters was more than enough, with plenty of extra space.

Of course, their concepts of a milk tea shop might be quite different.

“How does it feel?” Mu Yaochen followed Luo Yao closely, noticing his excited expression, which strangely made her happy.

A peculiar feeling arose in Mu Yaochen’s heart—Luo Yao’s happiness brought her joy, though she wasn’t sure if it was an illusion.

“It’s good as it is.” Luo Yao nodded, his mood unconsciously lifting.

At this rate, the shop could be operational in just a few days. It seemed they should buy the equipment today to avoid wasting time.

“Then it’s settled.”

Though the room was dusty, it didn’t hinder observation.

Looking at Luo Yao, Mu Yaochen pondered their unusual relationship and how it should develop in the future.
