Wedding Ceremony (Part 1)

Chapter 98 (Part 1) • 1,358 words • 12 min read

Violet wanted to make the wedding grand, but a week wasn’t enough time, and Christmas arrived in the blink of an eye.

Long Ling and Violet discussed celebrating Christmas first.

Their mothers and grandmother had all arrived, and it was originally planned to be a family gathering for Christmas, so the wedding wasn’t urgent.

Violet reluctantly agreed, and the wedding date was moved to after Christmas, with the butler and servants of the manor being arranged to prepare for Christmas.

The pine trees in the manor were covered in snow.

Butler Marcia led the servants, trimming the pine branches and hanging colorful lights and golden bells on the trees.

Long Ling thought that was enough to celebrate the holiday, but before long, Butler Marcia arranged for several more carts of different kinds of pine trees to be brought into the manor.

These pine trees were all trimmed.

Grandma watched the surroundings for a while, touching the pine branches and clicking her tongue in wonder:

“These pine trees seem to be Fraser firs and blue spruces native to Kaskerfeit.

Look at the blue-gray needles, and there’s a unique pine scent. It’s said that each tree is worth ten thousand gold. Does the Duchess always celebrate Christmas like this every year?”

Butler Marcia, having met a connoisseur, adjusted his wire-rimmed glasses and said with a smile:

“Not only that, these pine trees were specially cultivated by witches in advance and have special magical effects, so you can see sparkling needles even on snowy nights.”

Grandma sighed: “Celebrating the holiday once requires so many pine trees?”

Butler Marcia said:

“These magically cultivated pine trees are already very lucky to be glanced at by the Duchess.

I still have to pick out the best ones and put them in the Duchess’s bedroom.”

Grandma glanced at the pine trees with interest, waved her hand, and let Butler Marcia get busy.

The old lady turned to Long Ling and said:

“The Duchess is too rich, spending money like water just for Christmas.

Your wedding must be very grand!”

After all, Violet not only had a mountain of gold coins but also so many gem mines.

Her mother was already a big merchant, but she still couldn’t compare to the accumulated assets of Violet’s family over the generations.

Long Ling took Grandma’s arm: “Grandma, what kind of pine tree do you like? I’ll buy some and send them to our house.”

Grandma patted Long Ling’s hand and instructed: “Don’t waste money. Grandma is already old. It’s enough for you and the Duchess to live a good life.”

Long Ling said with a smile: “Grandma, you’re not old at all in my heart.”

The wrinkles on Grandma’s face turned into a flower with a smile:

“Good things take time. You two are finally together. After you get married, you’ll be adults. You have to be good to your wife. Grandma has your mother to take care of her.”

Long Ling curved her eyes: “I know.”

She leaned against Grandma, absorbing the warmth from her.

She actually quite liked listening to the old lady’s nagging.

Her grandmother also liked to nag like Grandma, but old people were all the same.

They all hoped that their granddaughter could live better and better.

Sometimes the elderly were also very lonely and needed companionship.

Long Ling and Grandma returned to the house together.

The house was also hung with holly wreaths, with red berries and green leaves intertwined, and golden bells hanging below.

A gust of wind blew, jingling pleasantly, as warm as spring in the cold winter.

She and Grandma sat around the fireplace drinking hot tea.

Before long, Butler Marcia also sent a newly decorated Christmas tree next to the fireplace in the living room.

There were also some gingerbread houses under the Christmas tree.

These gingerbread houses were made of gingerbread cookies and frosting, and melted sugar cubes were used as windows, and the roof was decorated with red candy balls.

Long Ling curiously broke off a corner of the house and tasted it.

The corner of the house was made of cookies, which tasted crispy and sweet, with honey, brown sugar, almonds, and various candied fruits inside.

After Long Ling finished eating, she pinched a small candy ball and put it in her mouth.

It was also sweet.

Perhaps because Violet loved strawberries, even the small candy ball had a hint of strawberry flavor.

She wondered if strawberry juice had been added.

The luxurious dining table was gradually filled with dishes, Christmas pudding and Christmas cake, eggnog and Christmas pudding, vegetable salad, cranberry sauce.

The whole room was filled with a sweet aroma.

The turkey and ham were still being baked and would only be brought to the table after the manor owner returned.

Long Ling chatted with Grandma about family matters for a while.

Before long, Meadow came to find her.

Meadow waved at her: “Little Ling, come here, Mom wants to tell you something.”

Long Ling got up and walked over quickly.

Meadow glanced behind her: “Violet isn’t here?”

Long Ling hummed softly: “She went to Grices Harbor and won’t be back until tonight.”

Meadow nodded: “I want to tell you some good news. Violet is pregnant.”

Long Ling was stunned.

“Your mother’s elven talent discovered it. It’s not been long since she conceived.”

Long Ling had been looking forward to a dragon egg for a long time, but she didn’t expect it to really happen.

She clasped her hands together, pacing back and forth nervously: “How should I take care of her? Should I go pick her up now?”

Seeing the joy on Long Ling’s face and her clueless expression, Meadow said gently:

“There’s no need to be too anxious. Wait for Violet to come back, then go see a doctor again to confirm and ask the doctor about precautions during pregnancy.”

“Okay, okay, I’ll contact the doctor first.”

She first found Nora and asked her to come over and wait in the room.

When Violet came back from work, Long Ling immediately greeted her and helped her take off her coat.

She held Violet’s hands in her hands and rubbed them to warm her.

Violet was in a good mood, pinching Long Ling’s cheek: “Did you miss me? Were you good at home?”

Long Ling looked into her eyes, her face full of smiles: “I missed you so much.”

Violet hugged Long Ling, but suddenly saw a doctor in the room: “Are you sick?”

Long Ling said softly: “Not me, it’s you, Violet. My mom said you’re pregnant, so she asked the doctor to come over and check your body.”

Violet’s eyes fell on her abdomen.

She had originally wanted to conceive a dragon egg so that Long Ling would always be with her.

Now that Long Ling had agreed to get back together with her, the dragon egg suddenly arrived, and she and Long Ling weren’t even married yet.

No wonder she had been so sleepy lately, and her appetite had changed, and her perception of the outside world’s cold and warmth was more sensitive than before.

It turned out it was because she had conceived a dragon egg.

Violet looked at the happy light in Long Ling’s eyes, knowing that Long Ling was looking forward to a child, and some expectations for the dragon egg in her belly rose.

Long Ling helped Violet and asked her to sit on the single sofa.

The doctor held a rattan staff and released medical magic.

A light blue, holy beam of light quickly enveloped Violet’s body, confirming the result.

“The Duchess is one month pregnant. The dragon egg is very healthy. In the future, you must pay more attention to your body, eat a reasonable diet, and avoid being too overworked.”

Long Ling nodded, remembering everything in her heart: “Thank you, doctor.”

She asked the doctor out of the room and couldn’t wait to return to Violet, saying happily: “Violet, we’re having a baby.”

Violet gently stroked Long Ling’s back with her slender hand, her cheek against Long Ling’s neck, her lips curved: “Really good, a baby that belongs to both of us.”
