Being a maid?

From Winnie’s perspective, there was nothing wrong with using a maid cafe to disguise the Jiangbei City Blood Hunter branch.

After all, she had been a maid for so long. Opening a maid cafe was simply working in her most familiar field.

The only problem was that there were too few people who could work as staff.

Just as she was about to give up and recruit some ordinary people, fate seemed to play a joke on her, bringing Su Ran to the entrance of Sakura Cafe.

To be honest, as Winnie sized up Su Ran’s current appearance—her smooth, pearly skin and long black hair—she knew that if Su Ran wore a maid outfit, she would definitely attract a large group of loyal customers to Sakura Cafe. She was the best choice for a Sakura Cafe employee.

And most importantly, the former Su Ran was a boy. Even though she had become a girl, her movements still carried many of the unconscious habits from before.

For the picky standards of a royal family’s consort, Su Ran needed to get rid of these habits quickly.

And her place was the best training ground for that.

Winnie’s gaze pierced through the thick walls, looking towards the distant vampire metropolis. ‘By now, Eve should have already returned.’

‘Rest assured, Your Highness. I will definitely teach Lady Su Ran all the rules she needs to abide by among the vampires and make her a perfect woman.’

Withdrawing her appraising gaze, Winnie already had a plan for Su Ran.

“If you want to make money quickly, the missions issued by the headquarters might not be suitable for you. But I have a mission here that is exclusive to the Jiangbei City branch, which I can recommend to you.”

Silently, Winnie began to set her hunting net, waiting for the prey named Su Ran to take the bait.

“Thank you for your kind offer, Manager Winnie. I think I’ll just take the mission to find the old lady’s cat! I’ve always loved helping others since I was little. The money doesn’t matter at all.”

Even though she didn’t know what was wrong, Su Ran’s sharp instincts made her subconsciously want to refuse Manager Winnie’s kind offer.

With that, Su Ran stood up, straightened the wrinkled hem of her skirt, and prepared to leave.

Every time Su Ran stood up, she had this habit of adjusting her skirt, which made her miss the wonderful life of wearing men’s clothes.

But now, she only had one witch outfit she could wear out, so she had to contend with a wrinkled skirt every time she sat down.

Just as Su Ran was about to walk out the door, the soft squeak of leather shoes reached the doorway, only to be stopped by Winnie’s words.

Seeing Su Ran’s gesture of straightening her skirt, Winnie knew that Su Ran was not yet accustomed to a woman’s life; she didn’t even know to smooth her skirt before sitting down.

“You don’t need it? That’s a real shame. This mission guarantees a monthly income of tens of thousands.”

Just as Su Ran had reached the door and was about to leave, Winnie no longer brought up anything else. ‘These things can be taught slowly. The priority is to make Su Ran stay.’

Instead, she spoke with feigned regret. Winnie had already grasped Su Ran’s weak spot: she was in desperate need of a large sum of money.

As Winnie expected, upon hearing that she could earn tens of thousands a month, Su Ran’s feet froze completely, and she stopped at the doorway of the break room.

“Manager Winnie, I think I do need to hear the mission details.”

Winnie folded her hands under her chin, her eyes fixed on Su Ran.

After speaking, Winnie gave Su Ran a meaningful look, almost explicitly stating the mission’s content.

‘Become a maid?’

‘No! It’s not a question of whether I can or not, but that I shouldn’t be doing it in the first place!’

‘But… tens of thousands! That’s too much money, isn’t it?’

Seemingly seeing through Su Ran’s concerns, Winnie timely added, “We have a complete on-the-job training system here to help new members quickly adapt to the position. You don’t have to worry about not being able to do a good job as a maid.”

“And this is a maid cafe where outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited, so men who like to drink usually go to the pub across the street. Other Blood Hunters only come to see me when they’re accepting missions, so you don’t have to worry about customers making a move on you. All of our customers here are girls.”

Winnie’s words were quite tempting for Su Ran. If there was really on-the-job training, it didn’t seem entirely impossible.

And if all the customers were girls, she wouldn’t have to worry about being harassed by scumbags.

But the thought of herself wearing a black and white maid outfit with lots of lace ribbons, standing at the door and saying, “Welcome home, Master”…

No matter how she looked at it, it was a bit shameful. Su Ran still needed time to accept this version of herself and couldn’t give Winnie an answer right away.

“We have training classes every week. You can come and try it out for a week first, and then decide whether you want to join.”

Seeing Su Ran’s conflicted expression, Winnie understood her concerns and didn’t push her for an immediate answer, quickly letting her consider it on her own.

However, Winnie was confident that in the end, Su Ran would choose this job.

After all, in a few days, all the other money-making missions would be taken. With her authority as the head, it was just a matter of lifting a finger.

“I’ll come and take a look.”

Since Manager Winnie had put it that way, Su Ran had no reason to refuse immediately and directly agreed.

“You are now officially a member of the Blood Hunters. Your initial rank is Iron Cat. You can post missions here or trade for things you need at the regular gatherings. These are all things you can do as a member of the Blood Hunters. After completing missions and ranking up, you can unlock more privileges.”

Seeing that Su Ran was intending to leave, Winnie no longer tried to keep her there.

The offer for the position at Sakura Cafe had been extended to her, so Su Ran would be back. There was no need to pester her.

After watching Su Ran leave, Winnie saw a head poke out from the doorway. “Yuan Shirui, don’t think I can’t see you just because you’re hiding at the door.”

Having been exposed by Winnie, Yuan Shirui, now changed into her maid outfit, walked out from behind the door and chuckled sheepishly. “Manager Winnie, is she gone?”

Winnie rolled her eyes at her. “She’s already gone. If you have time to spare, you can go find more of the vampires hiding in Jiangbei City after work.”

But before Winnie could finish, Yuan Shirui had already slipped away without a trace.
