The story follows Taerin, a woman who decides to end her engagement after discovering her fiancé’s infidelity. Despite being the one caught cheating, her fiancé acts like the victim, leaving Taerin feeling betrayed and exhausted.
On the night she finally turns her back on him, an unexpected figure from her past reappears: Kang Jin-wook.
Jin-wook is the eldest son of the powerful GH Group, but he grew up feeling like an outcast within his own family—often treated as “dirty blood” and wishing for death in his youth. His only solace as a young boy was meeting the high-school-aged Taerin. That encounter gave him a reason to live and something to want for the first time.
Years later, Jin-wook returns as a successful, imposing, and dangerously charming man. He intervenes in Taerin’s life, mocking her former choice in men (“Since when did your taste become ‘scumbags’?”) and suggesting that if she’s going to have a man by her side, it should be an “overwhelmingly powerful scumbag” like him rather than a pathetic one like her ex-fiancé.
