the story is playing with unique reincarnation mechanics rather than traditional genderbend tropes. If the character identifies as male despite being reborn into an all-female race, that could lead to some interesting conflicts and character development.

For that, it would need to be properly explained. It also makes no sense for others to refer to him as a guy when he is looking like a girl. If situations happend where he insists to others he is a guy, convinces them that that is how he sees himself, then it would show that off better. In the current form it’s only confusing for the reader.
