After finishing the conversation with Mary , she guided us to a small room.
It was her way of letting us avoid the sun for a while, as dawn was approaching.
The room we arrived at was bleak, with only a bed, a desk, and a chair.
“I’m sorry… This is the only room available.”
“It’s okay. We won’t be staying long anyway.”
Mary smiled faintly at my response and left the room.
As soon as Mary left, Aurel and Hwanggu jumped onto the bed.
“Yap!”
“Huh!”
Seeing that no dust rose even as the kids played, it was clear that this room was well-maintained.
Mary wasn’t as dangerous as I had feared.
In fact, she was a rare kind of adult these days.
Through our conversation, I learned quite a bit, the most surprising being that most of the vampire users in this church were minors.
The next surprising fact was that Mary had been a clergyman before becoming a vampire.
Of course, I had somewhat guessed this from her black uniform and the white band around her neck. Wearing the same clothes as before her transformation suggested she had been a priest.
She revealed her past without any hesitation.
I watched the kids bouncing on the bed and fell into thought.
Mary said that everyone had adapted to this world now.
They had accepted their changed forms and chosen to live in that state.
She said everyone had given up on meaningless struggles that endangered their lives.
Of course, the main reason for such decisions was the powerful Fenrir.
“What are you thinking about?”
As I continued my thoughts,
Cheonhwi peeked out from the shadow and spoke to me.
His previous appearance was nowhere to be found, replaced by an incredibly cute look.
“I’m thinking about how to return this world to its original state.”
Cheonhwi looked slightly surprised at my answer.
Then he struggled to get out of the shadow.
Cheonhwi, who was previously naked, was now wearing a large T-shirt like a dress.
It seemed he had made the clothes from the shadow, but that was his limit.
I wondered where the crayon was, and saw he was still holding it tightly in one hand.
“I’m surprised there’s still someone thinking about that.”
Cheonhwi said, waddling around the room. His shortened limbs made his movements awkward.
All his movements looked clumsy.
“Sigh… Can’t I return to my original form?”
Cheonhwi plopped down and muttered in frustration.
He still seemed attached to his previous appearance.
Time passed, and the sun rose in the sky.
It’s rare for vampires to walk outside in broad daylight.
Naturally, most of the vampires inside the church chose to stay hidden in their rooms.
Aurel was no exception.
Lying on the bed with the blanket pulled over her, she was hugging Hwanggu tightly.
It was heartwarming to see the two cute girls clinging to each other.
I sat at the table, resting my chin on my hand, and watched the two girls.
Hwanggu started nodding off, and as she did, Aurel’s head began to droop as well.
It didn’t take long for the two girls to fall into a deep sleep.
I left the room, leaving the two girls behind.
“Where are you going?”
As soon as I stepped out of the room, I heard a voice.
Looking down, I saw Cheonhwi peeking out his small head and looking up at me.
“I’m just going to take a look around the church.”
Cheonhwi nodded at my words.
He seemed interested in the church’s interior structure as well.
I walked with Cheonhwi, exploring the church.
There were no crosses, statues, or silver items in sight.
It seemed they had removed everything that vampires instinctively felt repulsed by.
After walking for a while,
a group of vampires started approaching from the dark corridor.
Their appearance seemed familiar; it was the male vampire who had been hanging upside down from the church ceiling earlier.
There were four of them in total.
It seemed they had business with me.
The vampires slowly approached and stopped in front of me.
Were all of them minors?
As I looked up at them with a skeptical gaze, the vampire who had been hanging upside down placed his hand on the wall behind me and spoke.
“What’s your name?”
His voice was low and slightly trembling, indicating he was intentionally lowering it.
What is this guy trying to do?
He even lowered his eyes, as if he thought it made him look cool.
“I’m Charlotte.”
“Charlotte… I’m Vermouth.”
The vampire introduced himself as Vermouth.
After Vermouth’s introduction, the other vampires beside him started introducing themselves.
“Do you want to go out with me?”
Vermouth suddenly confessed out of the blue.
As I looked up at him with a twisted expression, he continued slowly.
“You’re staying here from today, right? Then you should go out with me. I’m the strongest here. I can get you more blood rations too.”
The other vampires started nodding at Vermouth’s words.
The situation was so absurd that I couldn’t even get angry.
“Do you know who I am?”
“Charlotte, right?”
“No… Do you know what I do?”
“Does it matter?”
“I used to be a man.”
“But you’re not now, right?”
Vermouth asked back as if my past didn’t matter.
I was shocked by his words.
“So, we’re dating from today?”
I was too dumbfounded to respond, and Vermouth seemed to think I had accepted his proposal.
He smiled lightly and reached out his hand.
I grabbed his approaching hand and twisted his arm.
Crack-!
“Huh…?”
His arm twisted instantly, making a chilling sound.
When I let go, Vermouth stared blankly at his dangling arm.
“Is this a tantrum?”
Vermouth was a vampire. A broken arm wouldn’t cause him much pain.
But to say such a thing while looking at his dangling arm…
Vermouth seemed completely out of touch with reality.
At that moment, I heard giggling from below.
I looked down to see Cheonhwi peeking out and laughing.
My head felt hot. The sudden surge of anger made the shadow react.
The shadow beneath me surged, causing the entire corridor’s shadow to ripple.
Mary had said that most of the vampires here were minors.
It was a child’s mistake. It could happen.
I, too, looked like a small, cute girl.
If Vermouth had looked like Aurel or Hwanggu, I wouldn’t have gotten angry.
I would have gently persuaded them with a smile.
But Vermouth looked like an adult man.
I couldn’t tolerate that fact.
A giant beast began to emerge from the shadow, slowly taking shape.
The giant beast, representing my discomfort, moved nervously.
“Are you going to kill them?”
“No.”
I shook my head at Cheonhwi’s question.
I wouldn’t kill them.
Just.
I intended to help them become a bit more docile.
“Eat.”
As soon as I gave the command, the shadow opened its mouth wide and swallowed Vermouth and his group.
They struggled fiercely within the shadow, but couldn’t escape.
The difference in power between me and them was too great.
After a while,
when their resistance subsided, the shadow beast spat out four eggs.
Round and elongated, like eggs.
I tried it just in case, and it worked well on fellow vampires too.
“This, this is…!”
“They’re your friends.”
Cheonhwi looked horrified at my kind explanation.
He seemed to know what was happening inside those large eggs.
Why wouldn’t he? Cheonhwi was also reborn from one of these eggs.
I crossed my arms and waited for the eggs to hatch.
“You cruel creature…!”
Cheonhwi ran around the eggs frantically, his face pale.
After a while,
cracks began to form on the large eggs.
Crack!
Crack!
From the cracked eggs emerged four small girls.
“Gasp…”
“Scream…”
“Eek…”
“Whimper…”
The four girls collapsed weakly.
I activated the Mystic Eye to check Vermouth’s information.
[VermouthSs]
Level: 11
Species: Vampire (Charlotte’s Familiar)
Health: 100%
Mana: 100%
Emotional state: Confusion, fear, panic
Vermouth lay on the floor, drooling.
He didn’t seem to realize what had happened to him yet.
Vermouth had confessed to me as soon as he saw me.
It seemed his preference was for cute girls like Charlotte.
So I made him look similar to his preference, Charlotte.
Vermouth slowly began to get up.
As he sat up, he wobbled and fell to the floor.
“Ugh…”
He couldn’t adjust to his changed center of gravity.
Vermouth blinked his large eyes and finally looked at his palm.
His small, soft hand started to wiggle.
“Gasp…?”
Cheonhwi turned his head silently, unable to watch Vermouth any longer, and retreated into the shadow.
“How… how did this happen…”
Vermouth began to panic as he looked at his transformed body.
He touched his body with his small hands.
As he confirmed his appearance, he looked at his friends lying around and was shocked again.
“Gasp…!”
“Do you like it?”
I hope they liked their new forms.
No, I was sure they did.
I smiled faintly and approached Vermouth.
“Ah, ahhh!”
Vermouth recoiled in shock as I approached.
It seemed the trauma from being in the shadow was significant.
I sighed and waved my hand.
At that moment, the four girls melted into the shadows of the corridor and disappeared.
They had been reborn in my shadow like Cheonhwi.
Being essentially part of the shadow, it was natural for them to return to it.
The once noisy corridor quickly became quiet.
